Golf is a sport steeped in tradition, and for that very reason, changes in the game are always made very slowly. So the modern golf swing has not gone through much change over the years since Ben Hogan’s diminutive frame and little book defined what a good swing should look like.

A traditional golf swing has many moving parts and each motion is another opportunity for power “leaks” if not done absolutely correctly. By having fewer moving parts, there is less chance that the swing power is wasted in other areas, so all of the force is delivered to the ball.

Much of the stack and tilt golf swing seems to go against everything you’ve ever learned about swinging the club, and that can make it difficult to switch. Old habits are hard to break. Part of the Ramada hotel, Stresa can be found in the Salford Quays part of Manchester. The restaurant has a contemporary feel with light and comfortable surroundings. I remember visiting this restaurant when I was on a business trip in the area. I had arranged the business dinner to meet with a marketing consultant and the impression the resturant gave was fantastic and then the food arrived. My marketing consultant thought that marketing this place to the public would be easy, as we had both been sold by our starters and the selection of good wines. Stresa is an Italian restaurant that gets a lot of ingredients from the Lancashire area to make sure that the ingredients you are served are fresh and tasty.

Having always been a fan of seafood and sushi, I was delighted when I walked into the New Samsi Manchester restaurant. It is a Japanese restaurant that I have seen on Richard and Judy on Channel 4 and has been called the best place for Japanese food in the North West. New Samsi is a restaurant that has to be experienced.

A restaurant called Rhubarb which is situated in Didsbury, Manchester is another fine restaurant. The restaurant has been featured in both the Michelin and Hardens food guides for their contemporary and eclectic food. The suprising thing about this restaurant is how small and how personal it is. The restaurant is managed and run by husband and wife team Mark & Lisa Ramsden which gives it a homely feel with excellent service.

I’m at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf while I’m writing this. It’s a Saturday for me. I was working two jobs the whole month: my day job and my alter ego as a web marketer. After yesterday’s 6-hour coaching session, and working like a beheaded chicken at work,

I crashed and slept like a log for more than 12 hours straight.
Now, the afternoon sun is bright and sunny, and there’s a noisy crowd in the shop at Island Plaza.  Most of them look like Fitness First people and they are talking up a storm.

I just walked in with camo shorts, a Bruce Lee (hoo-watta!! weave in weave out, hoo…) t-shirt and a Lenovo netbook in tow. I was dead set in making a blog or two by today! So here we go…
 
My Take-Aways

I want to start with the take-aways because this feels like a longish blog for me. So to give my readers instant gratification, I’ll put the take-aways ahead of the rest.

1.    I’m going to win the contest, Alex! Alex Jeffreys is a smart coach, in his efforts to keep us on our toes and make us take action, he’s given us something big to shoot for. In a nutshell, the most eyeballs who look at our blogs will get a nice prize.

2.    And I’m going to help people AND Win! Yes, readers, you heard it right. I’m going to help others and still win. I believe that the way the universe works, you help people with a full heart, you’ll get a lot of love in return, including getting what you want.

3.    I’m going to step out of my comfort zone and do some videos and slides. Writing’s no problem to me, but videos and youtube stuff is a whole different territory for me. Nevertheless, I’m going to to do it!

The Coaching

The last Alex Jeffreys Coaching Session was held at about the same time as the last one. 7am Malaysia, 11pm UK, 6pm Eastern Standard, 10am Australia.

Alex has an interesting theory about blogs. And he relates this to ocean fishing.
I ask you, where the best place to catch a large school of fish? Where when there’s a vast ocean, can you 100% of the time find enough fish to fill your nets? The answer may surprise you: near or under oil rigs.

The Oil Rig Scenario

When an oil rig is set up, its pylons become occupied by the denizens of the seas. Algae starts growing on the pylons, attracting mollusks to grow on the pylons as well, attracting fish, which attracts even more fish to the oil rig.
Soon enough you got yourself a full-fledged ecosystem running under your oil rig. Left alone for years, it become a long-term fixture in the open seas.

Relate this to blogging. Your blog is the oil rig.

I started looking through those pages of results and I found a couple which I thought would surely lead me to find my lost friend. However, after an hour of searching I still came up empty.

Then I decided to try Yahoo. Since Yahoo search has been around longer than Google or MSN I thought I might have better luck there. Again I entered my friends name the city and state and this time I got about 30 pages of results. I started the arduous task of looking through each and every page and clicking on link after link. Now I was getting frustrated I spent all this time and still cannot find my lost friend.

I pretty much gave up on finding my friend until a couple months later when I discovered reunion.com. The construction industry took a beating due to the financial crisis. Just how bad did home building decline? It depends where you look but overall, the numbers are very frightening. In a report released recently, new order for homes built in the third quarter of 2008 was down 25% compared to last year. In numbers, that is 2,002 homes for this year compared to 2,660 homes in 2007.

Because of what is happening in the economy, there was increase in the number of cancellations from 24% last year to 27% this year. That’s only counting full foreclosures not deliquent payments or those who would love to sell to get out from under their house but can’t because they bought in at the top and now prices have fallen below even what they owe.

Up to this point, these homeowners have continued paying their mortgage to protect their credit but how long will this last?  When will they become one of those who just “Send the keys back to their mortgage company”?

But wait there’s more…

I was doing some reading yesterday about how commercial foreclosures are rising and even hotels are falling behind on their mortgage payments.

We haven’t even begun to see the ripple effect this will have on domestic home prices and the domestic property market.  When these really start to hit and there will be another shock to the market.

But the good news for you is these trying times create lots of opportunities.  And the real estate market will come back. I guarantee it won’t be down forever.

The other cool thing the disastrous current climate affords you is that it is going to weed out all the wannabes and nonprofessionals.  And The true professionals and insiders are going to be the ones who come out the other side with massive wealth and tremendously underpriced assets which will see phenomenal growth.

The winter Heraklion temperature in December ranges between 10 and 15 degrees celcius on average. On the 16th December 2008, the Department of Health launched an England-wide consultation to find out if it should prevent the use of 0844/ 0845 numbers to access services given by the NHS.

Increasing numbers of GP practices, pharmacies, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and opticians use these 08 numbers as they provide better call features like caller queuing and options for enquirers to make sure they reach the correct department (e.g. press 1 for reception, press 2 to speak to a matron etc.)

The study (which closes in March 2009) frequently references 03 telephone numbers as the best alternative, as they provide the same extra features as 0844/0845 numbers, but essentially are priced at the same level as regular landline numbers, even from mobiles.

This is particularly essential when 40% of all phonecalls made in the UK last year were from mobiles (Ofcom 2008).

0300 numbers are exclusively for the public sector and are already being put into place by a whole host of NHS businesses including Wiltshire Medical Services, South Staffordshire PCT and West Sussex PCT

Here are 10 reasons why 03 numbers are starting to be used by the Department of Health:

1. They are for the public as they are priced the same to call as 01/02 numbers - even from a mobile.

2. There is an extensive range of easy to remember 03 numbers available as they are still relatively new (launched in 2007).

3. The public trust 0300 numbers as they are exclusively for public sector businesses.

4. Organisations can deal with callers more efficiently, get valuable information about their specific 03 number and make sure all calls are answered by the right person, straight away.

5. You can set up 0300 numbers to record calls.

6. If an organisation changes its location it is simple to move the 0300 number with you.

7. Organisations can control where they receive their calls, by diverting their 03 number to any United Kingdom landline or even a mobile phone simply via the web/phone.

8. You can set up 0300 numbers to show you the geographic positions of callers and hectic times in the day by providing statistics packages.

9. Callers can be queued, meaning that all important calls will be answered.

10. They can often be very reasonable to run if you seek out the provider with the most competitive offering in the industry.

What the outcome will be from the public survey will be very interesting and for National Health Service organisations that rely on the features of their telephone numbers, then at least 03 numbers or 0800 numbers provide a viable alternative if they should choose to stop using 0844/0845 numbers in the National Health Service.

Since the discovery of leptin in 1994, many have hoped that the hormone would be a promising weight-loss treatment for humans. Leptin acts as a signal to help the body decide when it has eaten enough food to feel full. The amount of leptin in the blood has been directly linked to body fat.

If you take it at face value, it seems as if the research is saying that more leptin will help you lose weight. This research refers to subjects with a genetic basis for obesity who were deficient in leptin. But obese individuals tend to have more and larger leptin-producing fat cells than thinner people. They simply are not getting vital chemical signals to their brains that tell them to stop eating.

To illustrate my point:

Despite an assiduous search, scientists have found only a half-dozen people in the world who make no leptin. These people eat voraciously - one 3-year-old girl consumed 2,000 calories at a sitting. When several of these people were treated with leptin, they lost their appetites and their weight plummeted. (The New York Times 31/10/1999).

Don’t get me wrong, if it helps those who cannot make leptin, then this is a major breakthrough for them.

A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, goes a long way toward proving to me that more leptin does not equal less weight in very overweight people in the general population.

To make things worse, a hormone called leptin that was supposed to be the magic bullet for obesity, making people effortlessly lose fat while retaining muscle, looks like a bust. In a preliminary study reported last week, most people who took leptin lost little or no weight - one fat person who took the highest dose actually gained 20 pounds. (The New York Times 31/10/1999).

Researchers at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston say lean, physically active people have low levels of leptin, which is produced by the body’s fat cells and is believed to be a major culprit in causing obesity. The study finds that when couch potatoes start exercising regularly, their leptin levels decrease.

“As you get fatter, your body makes more leptin,” says Eric B. Rimm, Sc.D., associate professor of epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health, and a co-author of the study. “But when you exercise, the amount of leptin in the blood decreases. Most of the time, you also lose weight, which means your risk of heart disease decreases too.” (Science Daily 7/3/2000).

Normally, when leptin levels in blood go up, the brain signals us to stop eating. But since obesity isn’t the result of a lack of leptin, it is a lack of response to leptin, and obese individuals tend to have more and larger leptin-producing fat cells (leptin is a hormone secreted by fat cells) than thinner people, their leptin levels increase substantially with every pound of additional weight gain.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there appears to be no logic in the idea of taking more leptin to reduce weight if you have an impaired response to leptin.

It is important to keep in mind that the study that showed that raising leptin levels in people who have already lost weight helps them to keep the weight off. It does not help people to lose weight in the first place. It prevents the yo-yoing that most dieters go through as their leptin levels drop and the brain tries to compensate by increasing hunger.

Weight loss lowers levels of leptin, which in turn can restore an impaired response to leptin signaling.

When I started commuting almost an hour and a half to work, I got really, really bored. That’s a long drive, and frankly the news plays the same 5 minute sound bytes over and over again. I was losing my mind.

That’s when I discovered radio theatre. I happened to be searching online and came across it. I don’t remember exactly what led me to it, but I’m so glad I found it.

My discovery led to some great old shows like The Shadow, Abbot and Costello, Lights Out, Campbell’s Theater. Very cool stuff. My drive to and from work for the day suddenly became a highlight instead of a chore.

However, the more I listened to the radio drama shows, the more I got interested in whether or not there were any new shows that were created in the same “spirit” as the old ones.

Sure enough, there were! Great shows like Red Panda Adventures and Black Jack Justice from Decoder Ring Theater products. Very cool stuff.

Now, any time I’m bored sitting in a waiting room or taking a long drive, or just whatever, I let radio theatre keep me entertained and enthralled instead of twiddling my thumbs.

To my great surprise, I often find myself wishing that my waits or drives were longer! Now how’s that for proof of how great these cool shows are?

Under normal circumstances cold sores are not really classed as something dangerous. This being said, even if they aren’t life-threatening, they can still be deemed as a danger. The virus will also be present in all of your bodily fluids, including semen, vaginal fluids, and saliva.

If you are pregnant, the cold sore presents another danger. Because the virus is present in vaginal fluids, doctors will not allow you to have a vaginal delivery. This is because it is possible the baby could become infected with herpes during birth. In fact, the baby could actually get herpes in his or her eyes, a very real threat that could cause blindness.

Cold sores in the eyes, in fact, can cause permanent damage to anyone, not simply babies. If the sores spread to your eyes, you may find yourself facing permanent blindness as they can damage your cornea. While cold sores don’t often appear on the eyes naturally, the virus can move to your eyes if you wipe your eyes with a towel or your fingers after touching it.

As you can see, a cold sore can indeed be very dangerous, especially if you aren’t careful. You should do your best to keep your hands clean; wash them frequently, especially if you touch the area around your cold sore.

Call screen (*60):
Your phone can be programmed to reject calls from selected numbers with a service called call screen (Phone companies might use different names). Instead of ringing on your line, these calls are routed to a recording that tells the caller you will not take the call.

With Call Screen, you can also program your telephone to reject calls from the number of last person who called. This allows you to block calls even if you do not know the phone number. Most phone companies charge a monthly fee for this service.

However, Call Screen is not a foolproof way to stop unwelcome calls. A determined caller can move to a different phone number to bypass the block. Also, Call Screen does not work on long distance calls from outside your service area.

You can also use Priority Ringing:
You can assign a special ring to calls from up to 10 numbers – calls you are most likely to want to answer. The rest can be routed to voice mail. There are ways callers can get around Priority Ringing when it is used as a screening tool. Harasser can switch phone lines and avoid the distinctive ring.

You can try Call Return (*69):
This service allows you to call back the number of last person who called, even if you are unable to answer the phone. Some people suggest that call return can be used to stop harassing callers by allowing you to call the harasser back without knowing their phone number. Use caution with this method of discouraging harassing callers, however, as it could actually aggravate the problem. This service is paid on a per-use basis.

You can use caller id to identify the caller if they are not blocking their number or use a service offered by most phone companies called Privacy Manager. It works with Caller ID to identify incoming calls that have no telephone numbers. Calls identified as “anonymous,” unavailable,” out of area” or “private” must identify themselves in order to complete the call.

Before your phone rings, a recorded message instructs the caller to unblock the call, enter a code number (like inbound call blocking devices mentioned above), or record their name. When your phone rings, you can choose to accept or reject the call, send it to voice mail, or send a special message to telemarketers instructing them to put you on their “do not call” list.

3- To capture attendees’ interest you must have something different from the rest of exhibitors. Try to create some sort of theme or major attraction inside your trade show booth. This will serve as a major draw for show attendees. Your trade show booth might be nice looking but still unable to entice the crowd, therefore, a crowd pleaser is a must. I  have seen this happen at a recent show, true the attendance was down at the show but all in all most exhibitors said they did better that the previous year or show , why?. Fewer exhibitors mean less competition for you the exhibitor. This in turn turns into leads which eventually can result in sales.  In getting the best out of your trade show you must have something unique different from the rest of exhibitors. DO not use gimmicks they only work but for so long, be creative about your product or the imagery of your booth…always introduce a theme whether in the appearance of the booth itself, your product or the actual displaying of the products themselves… be creative intelligently and forget the gimmicks
